What can you use the app for?

CrowdSavings is another version of the group buying website. The site works by giving users the opportunity to buy into a special promotion or deal. These are usually significant discounts, with 50% or more off the regular price. Users that find a deal they like can choose to buy it. Many people love this type of online money saving because it allows them to save significantly more than a standard coupon would.

What is the history and popularity of the app?

CrowdSavings was founded in July of 2009. By November, the site went live and began welcoming visitors. The site was designed to create a ”win-win” situation for users. Anyone could stop by and take advantage of discounts that were far better than any special promotion or coupon. Today, CrowdSavings still welcomes visitors to come and see what special deals are available to save them a lot of money on their favorite merchandise or services.

What are the differences to other apps?

Many sites today do what CrowdSavings does. While this may sound repetitive, it is also a good thing. Each site negotiates its discounts with businesses, which means each offers its own unique collection of possible savings. CrowdSavings is no different, but stands out in its diverse selection of deep discounts available to users. Recent deals can be browsed as well as daily additions.

How does the web app look and feel to use?

The CrowdSavings website features a vibrant orange and green color scheme which is accented with a few dark blue highlights. The contrast is dramatic, but it makes it much easier to locate various features on the site. Three main tabs across the top of the homepage help users find the features they want. A professional logo design is the perfect compliment to the rest of the CrowdSavings site.

How does the registration process work?

A new user can register by entering a valid email address and clicking the orange “Sign Up” button in the top right hand corner of the homepage. After submitting the email address, the user is taken to a page that allows them to easily share CrowdSavings with the people they know. A personalized message can be added as well as contacts from Twitter, Facebook, Google, Yahoo, LinkedIn, Plaxo, Windows Live, and email.

What does it cost to use the application?

The main goal of sites like CrowdSavings is to encourage users to participate in the deals featured on the site. This benefits everyone because the user gets a great deal, the site earns some revenue, and the featured business gets more customers. The site would not do well to charge a membership fee. That being said, anyone can access CrowdSavings for free, there is no premium membership option. Unless the site provided additional features or some other functionality, this is definitely the best way to go. Anyone can opt into special deals on CrowdSavings at no cost, other then the listed price of the deal. The total amount a user spends in a month depends entirely on their purchase habits. There are no minimum spending limits to keep sing the site, either.

Who would you recommend the application to?

Anyone who enjoys the internet and loves saving money even more can really get into CrowdSavings. The site is used entirely for finding great deals in the user’s local area. There are no purchase limits (unless noted on individual deals) so the user can spend as much or as little as they like, which allows CrowdSavings to fit into anyone’s budget.
